Iraq’s Diyala police on Friday denied reports that a structure that collapsed near the provincial guesthouse in Baquba, killing two people and injuring two others, was a security watchtower.
The police command said the abandoned room had become unstable after rising water levels in the Diyala River weakened its foundations, following reports describing the site as an old concrete watchtower.
