The US forces launched a search and rescue operation on Friday following the downing of a fighter jet in Iran, with teams deployed across Iraq and Syria, The New York Times reported, citing US officials.

The operation aims to reach potential survivors from the aircraft before Iranian forces locate them, the officials said, adding that search and rescue teams have been positioned in multiple locations.

Iranian authorities have offered a financial reward for the capture of a US pilot or pilots. State Television addressed residents in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province saying, “If you capture an enemy pilot or pilots and hand them over to the police or military forces, you will receive a valuable reward.”
