At least two people were killed and 10 wounded on Thursday after US strikes hit bridges, transport infrastructure, communications sites, and military targets across southern Iran during a fifth consecutive night of attacks.
Iranian state television reported that a driver was killed while crossing one of two bridges struck in Bandar Khamir, Hormozgan Province. Another person was killed and eight wounded in a residential area of Bandar Abbas, while two others were injured at a railway junction.
The US also struck a communications tower in Bandar Abbas, cutting electricity nearby, and Iran Shahr airport in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. Traffic was halted on the Bandar Abbas-Kahurestan-Lar road after a bridge over the Shur River was hit.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) spokesperson Timothy Hawkins earlier claimed that forces targeted reconnaissance systems, radars, and missile and drone launch sites on Greater Tunb and near Bandar Abbas to reduce Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping. He also reported progress clearing mines planted by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Strait of Hormuz.
At 2 p.m. ET today, U.S. forces began conducting a new wave of strikes against Iran for the sixth consecutive night to further degrade Iranian military capabilities.

Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. The Iranian Armed Forces warned that attacks on the country’s infrastructure would widen its operations.
The renewed fighting began after US President Donald Trump announced the collapse of the June 8 Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, accusing Iran of targeting innocent ships in the strait.
