Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Sunday the October 30 attack on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Al Maayeda, warning that it threatens maritime security, global energy supplies, and regional stability.

The ministry affirmed Qatar's right to take all necessary measures under international law and the United Nations Charter to protect its property and interests and ensure the safety of its vessels and crews.

"Relevant authorities had launched an investigation into the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible," it said in a statement, cautioning against the environmental risks posed by attacks on energy carriers, including potential damage to the marine environment and threats to water security across the region.

On Friday, Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited (Nakilat) said its LNG carrier Al Maayeda had been targeted by unidentified objects while sailing in the "Arabian Gulf."

No crew members were injured, and the incident caused no environmental damage.
