On Sunday, Yemen’s Houthis (Ansarallah) announced they launched a hypersonic ballistic missile toward Lod Airport (Ben Gurion) in Tel Aviv.
In a statement, the group revealed that the “Palestine 2” missile strike “successfully achieved its objective,” suspending airport operations and sending thousands into shelters. The Houthis said the attack came in retaliation for “Israeli crimes of genocide and starvation” in Gaza and the latest attack on Yemen, vowing to persist until the war on Gaza ends and the blockade is lifted.
Earlier, the Israeli army reported it had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen toward Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Sirens sounded in both cities as explosions were heard overhead, with Channel 12 reported flights were briefly suspended at Ben Gurion Airport.
After the attack, Defense Minister Israel Katz warned the group would “pay with compound interest,” promising a “strong and painful” response. He added that Israel had already imposed an air and naval blockade on the Houthis and struck infrastructure in Yemen, calling it “only the beginning.”
