Iran on Wednesday conveyed its position on the war with the United States and Israel to mediators but ruled out direct negotiations, warning of retaliation.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei told Yonhap that Tehran had rejected US claims of an imminent Iranian threat, reiterating that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, Iranian parliament deputy speaker Ali Nikzad said no talks had taken place and none would take place, warning the Strait of Hormuz would “never reopen” if attacks continue, according to Iranian outlets.
US President Donald Trump earlier said Washington could end the conflict within weeks and that diplomacy was progressing with a “more reasonable” regime. He is due to address the nation later today on the war with Iran.
