Israel on Wednesday launched heavy airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, targeting several districts about an hour after Hezbollah fired its largest barrage of missiles toward Israel.
In a post on X, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee noted that the strikes hit Haret Hreik, Ghobeiry, Burj al-Barajneh, and Laylaki, adding that the Israeli military had issued evacuation warnings to residents before the bombardment.
Lebanese media outlets reported a series of powerful, successive airstrikes across multiple locations in Beirut, suggesting the strikes could signal a significant expansion of operations inside Lebanon. The Israeli military has carried out at least 10 airstrikes on the area so far.
Earlier today, Hezbollah launched Operation Al-Asf Al-Maakoul, a large-scale rocket attack targeting Israeli positions and settlements in northern Israel.
