Shafaq News/ Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Sunday   opening two mass graves of Anfal campaigns’ victims in al- Samawa desert after Eid al-Adha.

"We have exhumed the remains of 170 victims of mass graves in Samawa so far, including the remains of 74 children and 97 women and we have sent them to the forensic medicine department to take samples for DNA testing," Serwan Jalal, director of mass graves at the Ministry of Martyrs and Anfal said.

"Special teams will open two mass graves after Eid al-Adha in the same area in al- Samawa desert, including the remains of the Kurdish Anfal people during 1987 and 1988," he added.
