Shafaq News / James Thornton has been named as the new Consul General of Britain in Kurdistan Region, and is expected to start his official duties soon.

"I am very happy that I have finally arrived in Erbil. I am ready to start as a consul general of Britain in Kurdistan region," the British Consulate General in Erbil quoted the consul.

Thornton will replace former British Consul Martin Warr.
