Shafaq News / The American Ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Toler announced on Tuesday that Kurdistan Region will participate in the strategic dialogue to be launched between Baghdad and Washington in mid-June.

This came during his visit to Kurdistan Region and his meeting with its Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, according to a statement issued by the latter's media office.

The statement stated that during the meeting, which was attended by the American Consul General in Erbil Steven Fagin, they discussed the latest developments in the situation in Iraq and the region, and ways to strengthen relations between Kurdistan Region and the United States.

Toler noted the importance of the strategic dialogue between the United States and Iraq, which is scheduled to start this month, stressing that Kurdistan Region will participate in it.

The statement quoted the US ambassador as saying, "We are doing everything we can to help Iraq and Kurdistan Region, especially in overcoming the current difficult economic situation as a result of the consequences of Corona virus."

Thus the Prime Minister stressed the importance of Kurdistan Region's participation in the planned strategic dialogue between the United States and Iraq, and stressed the need for its results to be in the public interest of all of Iraq’s components.
