Shafaq News/ The new German Defense Minister, Anngret Kramp- Karrenbauer is scheduled to visit Erbil city, the capital of Kurdistan region, where she will meet a number of officials there.

The minister arrived earlier today to Iraq on her first official foreign visit since taking office.

Kramp -Karrenbauer paid a visit to Jordan on Monday to discuss extending the mission of German forces there, which support Jordan to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq, and participate in Iraq in training the army and security forces.

Kramp -Karrenbauer, who leads the Christian Democrats (CDU) as successor to Chancellor Angela Merkel, has previously confirmed that the German army's involvement in the anti-IS mission is still seen as "very important."

It is noteworthy that Germany is participating in the international coalition against "ISIS" so far reconnaissance aircraft "Tornado" and refueling plane and military trainers in Iraq. The planes operate from al- Azraq base in Jordan, eastern Amman.
