Shafaq News/ On Thursday, Kurdistan’s Region President, Nechirvan Barzani, met with the UK Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Sir Antony Radakin, alongside a distinguished military and diplomatic delegation.
According to a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency, “The meeting addressed the swift changes currently occurring in the region, particularly in Syria, as well as Coalition forces' efforts to combat ISIS. Discussions further touched on the United Kingdom's relations with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”
The statement also pointed out that President Barzani expressed gratitude for the UK’s continued support, particularly in reforming the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and efforts to unify the Peshmerga forces.
For his part, Admiral Radakin reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He underscored the importance of maintaining coordination to ensure the success of efforts against terrorism and to preserve stability in the region, the Kurdish presidency concluded.
