Shafaq News – Erbil (Updated at 13:06)
The Kurdish Ministry of Finance and Economy announced on Thursday that it has transferred non-oil revenues for June 2025 to Iraq’s federal Ministry of Finance.
In a statement, the Ministry said that 120 billion dinars (approximately $91.6M) were deposited in cash into the Federal Ministry’s account at the Central Bank branch in Erbil.
The transfer follows an August 26 decision by Iraq’s Council of Ministers, which conditioned June salary payments on Erbil remitting 120 billion dinars from internal revenues.
A source familiar with the negotiations previously told Shafaq News that Baghdad and Erbil had reached a broader arrangement covering May and June, under which the KRG would send 240 billion dinars ($183M) and 230,000 barrels of oil per day in return for salary payments to Kurdish employees.
The deal comes amid long-running disputes over oil exports and revenue sharing. Tensions escalated in May when Baghdad froze salary disbursements to the Kurdistan Region, reviving a conflict that has repeatedly strained Baghdad-Erbil relations.
