Shafaq News / The spokesman for Diyala Operations Command of Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi, Sadiq Al-Husseini, revealed today, Sunday, that a plan to establish an "ISIS state" in the outskirts of Khanaqin, has been thwarted.
Al-Husseini told Shafaq News Agency, that the tracking operations of the security services and Al-Hashd in Khanaqin sector, led to the unveiling of a plan to establish an ISIS state between Khanaqin and the Kurdistan border areas, indicating that the plan includes preparing hidden dens and outposts in villages, to store explosive belts and devices, and facilitate delivering suicide bombers.
He added that Diyala intelligence service, in a qualitative operation, revealed the first dens that ISIS had prepared to transport and prepare suicide bombers, and was able to destroy it and arrest one terrorist, noting that information and intelligence investigations are continuing to prevent ISIS gangs from carrying out their plans.
The outskirts of Khanaqin, 105 km northeast of Baquba, have been subjected during the past months to terrorist attacks that caused human losses. Experts attribute the attacks to terrorists who infiltrated the area after fleeing from other governorates.
