is to assess the ability of the security forces there and whether their leaders are confident of their ability to do their part.

Dempsey said in a press statement seen by "Shafaq News", that “ about 750 soldiers are in Iraq to help determine what can be done by the United States to help Iraq”.

According to Dempsey, some of the troops present in the center of the joint operations with Iraqi security forces are there to provide a better picture on how the situation evolves, while visiting other Iraqi units to respond to some main questions  .

On members of the Iraqi forces, Dempsey wondered: "What are they doing?, what is there Composition? Are they still force that represents all Iraqis?".

He added "When we get this assessment , We will take decisions on some other types of support that we can provide."

Dempsey stressed that "the U.S. assessment of the situation comes at the same time that Iraq's political leaders try to form a government."

He explained that "the ability to reach a political reconciliation between the groups, and provide a comprehensive way to the people of Iraq, will lead to the formation of an important factor in determining what we will do in the future."

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has said last Monday that the United States is stepping up its military presence in Iraq once again to send about 300 more troops there as well as helicopters and drones.
