Shafaq News / The head of the Iranian Hajj and Visitation Organization, Ali Reza Rashidian has announced the resumption of sending Iranian visitors to visit Shiite shrines in Iraq by land, starting next Saturday.

Rashidian said, according to what the Iranian "Mehr" news agency quoted, "As of next Saturday, February 15th, operations will start sending the first convoy of Iranian visitors to Iraq through one of the border outlets."

On the third of last November, the Iranian Hajj and Visitation Organization announced that the central companies for visiting services throughout the country decided to stop sending Iranian visitors to visit Shiite shrines in Iraq by land, due to the protests taking place in Iraqi cities against the ruling political class in Baghdad.

At the height of the protests in Iraq, the Iranian authorities closed Shalamjah , Mehran and Chathaba ports several times, while keeping the ports open to commercial traffic between the two countries.
