, noting that the Presidency of the Republic has no power to veto laws .

The presidency of republic refused today (Tuesday) , the ratification of the Unified Retirement Law , which was passed recently in the parliament reverse articles 37 and 38 thereof.

The member of the Committee, Lateef Mustafa told “Shafaq News " that " the president or who represent it possesses has no power to veto laws approved by the parliament ."

He added that " the presidency has no right legally to demand the parliament to reconsider paragraphs in the law that has been passed ."

Thousands of people had demonstrated in 10 Iraqi provinces , last Saturday demanding the cancellation of paragraph 37 of the Unified Retirement Law earmarked for retirement and privileges of MPs , the three presidencies and senior officials in the state.

Similar protests took place in seven provinces, including the capital Baghdad on the fifth of last October and resulted in an overwhelming wave of anger that swept the country , where the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announced his support for the demands of the demonstrators .

The Federal Court which is the highest judicial authority in Iraq has cancelled in the same month pensions of current and former MPs according to the call of the head of Ahrar parliamentary bloc, Bahaa al-Araji and hopes of Marjiyaa of Najaf and the masses.
