Shafaq News / The Minister of Health and Environment, Hassan al-Tamimi attributed on Sunday the high number of Corona virus infections in Iraq to lifting the total lockdown and replacing it with a partial one.

The Iraqi Ministry of Health announced today that 144 new infections in the highest daily tally since the outbreak began.

Al-Tamimi said to the official Iraqi news agency that "the lack of commitment of citizens to the partial curfew has caused many problems in the area of increasing the number of cases of corona virus."

" Corona pandemic has become a reality that must be dealt with by committing to prevention measures to prevent infection."

"The most important points that we have focused on are tightening procedures by the security forces, and the affirmation of state employees who continue to fulfill their duties to stick to health protection completely, as well as the need to emphasize the security services to help impose regional quarantine, which is necessary to decrease the spread of the virus, in addition to providing the essential financial sums to provide large numbers of laboratory tests to diagnose the virus and raise the capacity of hospitals,” He added.

"We have a number of hospitals full of infected people, and other hospitals have been opened to treat those infected with Corona virus," noting that " some mobile hospitals have been created in some areas to accommodate the large numbers of infected people."

"The regional quarantine will be adopted for the areas where the most infection rates were recorded, especially on Rusafa side of Baghdad, Basra and Sulaymaniyah provinces which are among the most regions where Covid-19 infections have been recorded."

"The Ministry of Health was opposed to lifting of the partial curfew, as lifting the total curfew to partial caused many problems and led to the spread of Corona virus even more in the country,” al-Tamimi concluded.
