of the region in conjunction with the parliamentary elections , indicating that it will be obliged to hold elections if the region rejected the request.
“The presidency of Kurdistan Region must understand technical and logistics considerations in which IHEC can’t hold elections of provincial councils in conjunction with the parliamentary elections and that they can adopt a second date proposal on 30 of nextAugust,” The spokesman of IHEC, Safah al- Musawi told “Shafaq News “.
“If the Presidency of Kurdistan Region understood the situation then a second proposed date will be adopted and if insisted not to postpone the elections, IHEC would be obliged to hold them in conjunction with the parliamentary elections.”
“IHEC is waiting for a formal response from the Presidency of Kurdistan Region in order to take this action,” Al-Moussawi said.
IHEC delayed in agreement with the Presidency of Kurdistan Region to hold the provincial council’s elections in the region from November 21 to 30 of next April.
According to the new election law, legitimized by the parliament , IHEC is now obliged to conduct counting process in the major centers instead of polling stations .
