Majmaee said in a press release received by “Shafaq News " that " the security forces freed Buhriz from the grip of " bats of darkness " who tried to terrorize the people and steal the blessing of safety by murder , sabotage and forced displacement ."

He added that “the security forces have dealt professionally in Buhriz and succeeded during a few hours to end the battle and restore internal stability ," calling the displaced families to " return to their homes and to exercise normal life ."

The governor also praised " the position of Buhriz people in supporting the security services in order to restore stability and tranquility ."

Diyala provincial police command said on Sunday that security forces regained control of Buhriz and expelled militants of " Daash " and its allies , after violent clashes with the security forces left dozens dead and wounded on both sides .

Daash militants had taken control on Saturday on parts of old Buhriz sub-district through support of its sleeper cells and incited through loudspeakers in mosques to kill the family members of the Awakening and the security services , according to the security officials.
