Majmaee said in a statement received by “Shafaq News " that “ All the evidence shows that political militias are behind armed groups that are trying to prevent citizens from participating in elections and intimidate them by methods that are no longer a secret to anyone “.
Security and local sources talked late last month about Shiite militias believed to follow " Assaeb Ahel al-Haq" of entering Buhriz sub-district in Diyala and that they exercised violence against the population.
The move came accompanied by security forces when they regained control the sub-district from militants and expelled Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant " Daash " and its allies, according to sources.
Majmaee said that " these criminal acts targeted certain areas, and deliberately stir up trouble and fabricated crises in these regions and create excuses to target the security of these areas in an unprecedented way ."
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al -Sadr has launched an attack on the militias that swept several areas of Diyala , including Buhriz and killed many citizens by sectarian motivation and said it belonged to the dictator in an apparent reference to the prime minister .
Sadr’s statement came after reports said that members of these militias are raising pictures of the young cleric while carrying out their operations.
Large areas of Diyala have been exposed to sectarian -motivated attacks launched by " Daash " militants and elements of the militia . As dozens of civilians were killed, particularly in Buhriz.
The governor of Diyala province added , "We hope that the electoral competition would be fair and away from targeting citizens and threaten its security , it is unfortunate for some parties to resort to such acts to achieve electoral gains at the expense of citizen’s security and the security of the province. "
Majmaee called for " unity to confront anyone who tries to confuse the security situation and delay the democratic path which we have chosen for ourselves as free and unified people “.
Diyala province is considered of the hot spots where many armed operations take place , after it was the scene of " sectarian violence " during 2006 - 2008 , resulting in the death and displacement of thousands of its inhabitants and the destruction of the bulk of its infrastructure.
