A statement by the prime minister reported for " Shafaq News " , that Barzani received (yesterday ) Saturday , Vice President of the German Parliament , Claudia Ross and her entourage , which included employees of the German Embassy in Iraq , the German Consulate General in the region and a number of German officials .
The statement said that Ross had made it clear that Kurdistan Region aims to see the situation of refugee camps and the Syrians directly and to provide better humanitarian assistance to these refugees, praising the role of KRG to take them , house and help them .
For his part, Barzani explained according to the statement , that KRG has provided what it can to help the refugees , adding that these refugees need more assistance .
Barzani called on Iraq and the international community to pay more attention in all respects to refugees and provide humanitarian aid , and expected an increase in the number of refugees , according to the government statement .
The two sides also submitted the idea of establishing refugee camps inside the Syrian border , stressing the need to find peaceful solutions to calm the situation , stop the bloodshed and limit the humanitarian plight experienced by the Syrian people , according to the same statement .
He noted that the two sides reviewed the security developments and the political process in Iraq in general, especially the deteriorating situation in southern Iraq and al-Anbar province , as well as relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and the continuation of efforts to address the differences.
The statement said that the two sides also discussed Kurdistan Region’s relations with neighboring countries , and ways to strengthen relations between Kurdistan Region and Germany .
It is worth mentioning that international and local reports indicate that more than 200 000 displaced Syrian flee to Kurdistan to escape violence and infighting witnessed in Syria for more than two years.
