Shafaq News/ The office of the Iranian Hajj and Visiting Organization in Iraq announced on Wednesday the death of an Iranian visitor in the pushing accident that took place on Tuesday during Ashura visit in Karbala city.
Mohsen Nazafati, director of Hajj and Visiting Organization office in Iraq, confirmed the death of a young Iranian visitor in the incident yesterday in Karbala, noting that the name of the dead man is "Hussein Khauri" born in 1968 from Mashhad city.
Iranian media reported Tuesday that four visitors were injured in the pushing accident during Raktha Tuwayrij and Ashura ceremonies at Imam Hussein shrine in the holy city of Karbala.
The death toll from Karbala incident on Tuesday was 31 deaths and 102 wounded, some of whom are recovering, and have been discharged from hospital, the Iraqi Health Ministry said.
The governor of Karbala, Nassif Jassem al-Khattabi said in a joint press conference held Tuesday evening with Health Minister, Abdul-Saheb al-Alwan that more than 4 million visitors took part in " Raktha Tuwayrij ".
The provincial government in Karbala province declared on Wednesday a three-day official mourning for the people who died in the pushing accident during Ashura ceremony and Raktha Tuwayrij at the Husseini shrine.
