Shafaq News / A leader of the Iraqi Forces Alliance, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi revealed on Tuesday the failure of the Alliance talks with Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi over his government formation.

The leader in the Alliance, Abdullah Al-Kharbit, told Shafaq News that "the Iraqi Forces Alliance has been during the last period in dialogues and negotiations with Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, on the ministerial cabinet and the formation of the new government, but we did not reach any positive results, because of Allawi's way of dealing With political forces.

Al-Kharbait indicated that "the Iraqi forces alliance has suspended its dialogues and negotiations with Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, but there are dialogues with political forces."

He pointed out that "there are dialogues taking place with Allawi indirectly, but rather through political forces, seeking to resolve the crisis of forming the new government."

The Parliament is scheduled to hold an emergency session next Thursday to consider whether to give confidence to Allawi’s government.

For the government to obtain the confidence of Parliament, an absolute majority (50 percent + 1) is required for the number of members present (not the total number) to grant confidence.

Allawi, a former communications minister has the support of prominent Shiite forces, headed by the Sadrist movement led by Sadr and the "Al-Fatah" coalition led by Hadi al-Amiri.

However, he faces protests from prominent Kurdish and Sunni political forces, as well as the popular movement, which demands an independent personality far from subordination to parties and countries abroad.
