Shafaq News / The Iraqi President Barham Salih said, on Sunday, that ISIS sought genocide and eradicating Yazidis for all, stressing the importance of holding accountable those whom negligence or involvement caused ISIS infiltration and occupation of Iraqi cities and villages.

"We recall, today, the memory of the tragedy that the Yezidis were subjected to when ISIS criminals invaded Sinjar and committed horrific crimes", Saleh said in a speech on the sixth anniversary of the Yazidis genocide, via videoconference.

He continued, "Neglecting the requirements of our people in Sinjar is shameful", emphasizing, "the need to overcome political and administrative obstacles", in addition to, "the need to accelerate the organization of the administration in Sinjar, to enhance security and stability and to provide its original residents with material assistance and basic services for their return".

Salih called on the political forces to, "overcome differences to reach the administrative and security solutions required to serve the Yazidis and all our citizens, who suffered from terrorism and its crimes".

Tomorrow marks the sixth anniversary of the attack launched by ISIS against Sinjar and the surrounding areas and its massacres against the Yazidi Kurds there.
