Shafaq News / Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that if his country had given the green light to Saddam Hussein during the war, he would have occupied Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and all the Gulf states.

Rouhani addressed the gulf states in press statements during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, "Iran stands by you, and we proved that when Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait. We were the first to condemn that before the Gulf Cooperation Council did, we helped the Kuwaiti people. We stand with the countries of the region and support regional peace".

"Iran's weapons are not turned against you, and those who plunder your money and sell you weapons to bomb your neighbors and eliminate the Yemeni people, are the ones who are harming you, not Iran", Rouhani added.

Furthermore, the Iranian president stated that lifting the arms embargo would enable Iran to buy and sell weapons.

The Iranian president pointed that any decision to extend the arms embargo on Iran, would be a flagrant violation of the nuclear agreement, and the countries that would support the decision should bear its repercussions.
