Shafaq News /the Iraqi government sent an official letter to Parliament On Sunday,  regarding early elections.


"The prime minister's decision about the early elections was not a reaction to any political conflicts," Prime Minister Ahmed Mullah Talal, spokesman of the PM said in an interview with the official Iraqi channel.


He added, "We do not want to repeat the 2018 elections experience that led to what we are facing now," adding that "there is a special team to prepare a plan for the elections according to international standards."


Mulla Talal indicated that "there is a popular will that wants a safe environment to hold early elections, and confine arms to the state."


He continued, "Determining the date of the elections created a kind of competition between political forces.” calling on the parliament to "complete the election law."


The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, announced that early general elections will be held on June 6, 2021 instead of May 2022, in which this announcement was welcomed by The United Nations Mission in Iraq.
