Shafaq News / A security source stated that a military operation had been launched on Wednesday to prosecute a leadership in ISIS.

The source told Shafaq News agency that "the security forces launched operations in the areas of Al-Zawiya, north of Baiji, northern Saladin, close to the borders of Nineveh up to the Syrian border."

He added that the operation came "after information about the presence of the ISIS so-called “Tigris governor (wali dijla)” accompanied by Asian gunmen belonging to the Bait al-Mal Protection Brigade," indicating that "among the gunmen are Uzbek and Chechen nationalities and a number of wanted ISIS militants in Nineveh Governorate."

The source pointed out that "drones carrying cameras pursued the Tigris governor and his companions on the border between Saladin and Nineveh," noting that "according to intelligence, they have a big amount of money trying to transfer it to Syria based on orders issued by ISIS leaders in Syria."
