Shafaq News / MP of Saladin Governorate, Manar Abdul-Muttalib Al-Shadidi, called today, Friday, six ministries to establish the committees to compensate citizens affected by terrorist activities and military operations.
Al-Shadidi told Shafaq News agency that, last year, the Iraqi parliament approved the formation of two or three committees in each governorate affected by terrorist and military operations, to accelerate the completion of compensation transactions, which have been stalled for many years due to the large number of those affected, with a single compensation committee in each governorate, indicating that compensation transactions require many legal procedures.
Al-Shadidi confirmed that many MPs demanded the ministries concerned with the compensation file to nominate their representatives in the compensation committees, with the exception of the Ministry of Justice, which showed great cooperation.
She pointed that the number of people affected by terrorism and military operations has reached hundreds of thousands.
Years after the end of military operations, some governorates in Iraq still suffer from the displacement issue. With more than one and a half million citizens displaced from these governorates, the issue of compensating for victims, real estates and vehicles is yet to be solved.
