Shafaq News / The local administration in Wasit Governorate revealed, on Thursday, an agreement to suspend the entry of Iranian visitors who participate annually to visit Imam Hussein's "Arbaeen" through the Zurbatiyah border crossing until the end of this year, due to COVID-19.

Wasit Governor Muhammad Jamil Al-Mayahi said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, "We agreed with the Iranian side to postpone the entry of visitors this year through the Zurbatiyah port due to the health conditions".

Member of the Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Mahdi Taqi, revealed, yesterday, Wednesday, that the Iraqi government is currently studying reopening border crossings to receive "Arbaeen" visitors.

It is noteworthy that the country is registering high daily case counts ranging between 4 and 5 thousand cases every day, as well as tens of fatalities.

The total number of COVID-19 vases in Iraq reached 273816, including 7732 fatalities and 209993 recoveries.
