Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, 13 Iraqi political groups announced the formation of a new alliance, “The Alternative Coalition (Al-Badeel),” aiming to introduce a civil and reform-driven platform ahead of the country’s upcoming parliamentary elections.

In a statement, the coalition revealed it includes the following entities: the Iraqi Loyalty Movement (Harakat al-Wafaa al-Iraqiyya), the Iraqi Economy Alliance / Economists (Tahalluf al-Iqtisad al-Iraqi / Iqtisadiyyoon), the Iraqi Communist Party, the Iraqi Intellectual Movement (Al-Muthaqqaf al-Iraqi), the National Home (Al-Bayt al-Watani), the Iraqi Republican Gathering Party (al-Tajammu' al-Jumhuri), the Iraqi Leadership Party (al-Riyada), the Enough Movement (Harakat Kafa), the National Independence Party (al-Istiqlal al-Watani), the National Civil Movement (Al-Haraka al-Madaniyya al-Wataniyya), the Independents Alliance (Tahalluf al-Mustaqilleen), the Democratic Movement (Al-Tayyar al-Dimuqrati), and the Builders of Iraq Movement (Tayyar Bunat al-Iraq).

Describing itself as more than a political bloc, the alliance outlined a mission to rebuild the state on principles of citizenship, justice, and dignity. It committed to a clear vision, practical programs, and actionable plans focused on democratic governance, peaceful power transitions, restoring state institutions, combating corruption, and empowering citizens.

The coalition also framed its formation as a response to what it characterized as ''years of failure, marginalization, and division, confirming its intent to participate actively in the upcoming elections.

The announcement comes amid ongoing preparations for Iraq’s parliamentary vote scheduled for November 11, 2025.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Shiite Coordination Framework bloc revealed plans to run joint lists in Diyala, Nineveh, and Saladin, marking a change from earlier intentions to compete separately. This shift follows the emergence of a new alliance, Qarar (Decision), led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s al-Furatin Movement, Badr Organization chief Hadi al-Amiri, and Popular Mobilization Authority head Faleh al-Fayyad.
