Shafaq News / The University of Diyala revealed on Monday efforts to establish a UNESCO Chair in the university to enhance scientific cooperation with international universities.

The university presidency said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that it had formed a "specialized committee to study the possibility of establishing a chair for UNESCO at the University of Diyala and to develop a mechanism and a time plan for this to achieve the vision, mission and goals of the ministry in consolidating the educational process and opening up to international institutions".

The statement continued, "The efforts to attract UNESCO aim to strengthen scientific cooperation and engage with the international networks of scientific research institutions under the umbrella of UNESCO", noting, "this option will allow researchers to build bridges of communication and exchange of knowledge and technology and contribute to supporting scientific bodies".

The University of Diyala is one of the leading universities in Iraq and has achieved great scientific achievements at the domestic and international levels on multiple forums.

The university was founded in 1999. The university center is located in the city of Baquba in the central region of Iraq, northeast of the capital, Baghdad.
