Shafaq News / Dozens of residents of Balad district, southern of Saladin, organized a sit-in in front of the District's building to protest against the deteriorating services, demanding the dismissal of the local administration and the directors of departments in the district.
Early this week, Balad district witnessed widespread demonstrations demanding services, the dismissal of the corrupt officials and the implementation of stalled projects.
MP of Saladin, who is a resident of Balad district, Manar Abdul Muttalib Al-Shadidi, told Shafaq News agency that demonstrating is a legitimate right but the MPs and the administration of the district cannot be held responsible for the services' failure. The district lacked the assignments and the care of the consecutive governments since the fall of the former regime, despite the massive damage it suffered from the terrorist operations and the war against ISIS.
Al-Shadidi indicated that Balad’s MPs demand to complete vital and major service projects. However, the relevant ministries and authorities did nothing about it, urging the Prime Minister to take a serious move to meet the demands of the people of Balad.
Balad is located south of the governorate of Saladin. Its population is estimated by 80000.
