Uday al-Ajman, a parliamentary candidate from the Al-Faw Zakho Coalition, died on Tuesday during Iraq’s general elections, the coalition’s Secretary-General Amer Abdul-Jabbar said.
Al-Ajman was running for a seat in the southern province of Basra.
In a condolence statement, the coalition said it has suspended all victory celebrations across Iraqi provinces in mourning for his death.
The Al-Faw Zakho Coalition, which identifies as an independent political alliance, is contesting seats in several provinces, including Basra, Babil, and Baghdad.
