Shafaq News / A security source reported that, on Thursday, a director of Diyala Governorate police had survived an assassination attempt.

The source told Shafaq News agency that, "a device attached to the vehicle of the Brigadier General Qahtan Ibrahim exploded, while he was on Al-Mafraq bridge, west of Baqubah".

The source added that Qahtan Ibrahim was not injured.

In a separate context, another security source told Shafaq News agency that an explosive device exploded near a store in the Abu Saida district (30 km northeast of Baquba), indicating that no human losses were registered.

Diyala is witnessing many attacks carried out by ISIS terrorists, targeting security forces and citizens.
