Shafaq News/ an explosive device has killed a farmer in northern Diyala Governorate.
A source told Shafaq News Agency that an explosion was caused by an explosive device that was planted in the village of Al-Boubaker, north of Al-Azim, 60 km north of Baqubah.
The device blew up when a tractor passed by, resulting in serious injuries of a farmer.
The source added that a joint force of the Iraqi army, the PMF and the residents carried out a search campaign for other possible explosive devices that might have been planted by ISIS.
Al-Azim district, 60 km north of Baqubah, is exposed to frequent attacks on the borders of Saladin due to security vacuums and the lack of military reinforcements.
In 2017, Iraq declared final victory over ISIS after Iraqi forces drove its last remnants from the country, three years after the militant group captured about a third of Iraq’s territory.
Yet, ISIS still has sleeper cells in several Iraqi Governorates.
