Shafaq News / A deputy for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan warned on Monday of the consequences of the withdrawal of diplomatic missions and foreign embassies from Iraq.
MP Harim Agha told Shafaq News Agency, "The protection of diplomatic missions and embassies in Iraq is an international norm that cannot be crossed, especially that these parties has provided security and economic support to Iraq over the past years, and has contributed to the elimination of terrorism."
He considered that "any targeting of missions or embassies is a threat to Iraqi diplomacy at the international level and a cause for isolating Iraq internationally in the political and economic fields."
Agha believed, "the necessity of keeping Iraq away from regional conflicts and not being drawn into policies that seek to turn Iraq into a place of settlement of accounts among countries that only care about their interests and ignore the national interest of the Iraqi people."
Earlier, US media, including the "Washington Post" newspaper, reported on Sunday that the United States may close its embassy in Baghdad for 90 days, in response to the Iran-backed factions' attacks on US interests in the country
