Zebari said at a joint news conference with his Indian counterpart, Salman Khurshid, who arrived in Baghdad yesterday that the Iraqi-Indian relations are historical, and the visit is important to have future cooperation.
Zebari discussed at the conference, which was attended by “Shafaq News “, “the economic issues and announced India as the largest buyer of Iraqi oil in the world”.
He stressed that Iraq assured Delhi to fulfill their future oil needs.
Zebari discussed with the Indian minister, cooperation in the health field and benefit from the Indian experience.
He said that the Joint Ministerial Committee will held its second meeting soon in Baghdad, after the first to be held in Delhi.
“India invited me and the Prime Minister to visit Delhi,” he added.
For his part, the Indian minister said that al-Maliki had agreed to visit India after Ramadan month.
The Indian minister's visit aims to strengthen the historical relations between the two countries.
The visit came at the official invitation from Iraq.
No senior Indian official had visited Baghdad since the nineties of the last century.
