Minister of Electricity , Qassim Mohammed Fahdawi said in a statement reported for "Shafaq News", during a meeting with Advanced angel of the ministry , agents and a number of general managers, said that “ the ministry will not implement any future generating station from its financial allocations, and will convert all stations projects to be implemented in the future to investment “.
The statement said to the current and the future reality has been discussed at the meeting and displayed to the national electricity system as well as challenges faced by the ministry.
The statement noted that the ministry intends to prepare a full report on the reality of electricity in Iraq to be displayed in the Iraqi parliament to share it with the MPs.
The statement added that the offer, made at the meeting included the amounts allocated since 2003 up to 2013 that are actually disbursed, as the productive capacity of the system power has been displayed since 2003, until this year, where it was(3400) MW in 2003, and now it has reached (12320) MW from the actual ability of generating units, which, if calculated as available amount it would be 18 thousand MW, noting that the design capacity of these units is (22,500) thousand megawatts because of the old stations and losing fuel from the production and what the production system will reach until 2020.
