The Ministry of Education has requested 174 billion dinars as financial allocations for the literacy campaign, but the government has allocated 50 billion dinars only.
“The Council of Ministers has allocated 50 billion dinars as salaries for the managers , supervisors and lecturers of literacy centers, while did not include the students with those allocations,” The assistant of the director of Literacy board , Maher Ayyash told “Shafaq News”.
“The Council of Ministers and in accordance to what the government’s spokesman , Ali al-Dabbagh said , five thousand dinars have been allocated per day for per student," noting that " his board has moved to activate the decision of the Council of Ministers about the students “.
“The financial allocations for the three categories will be distributed soon,” Ayyash added.
According to surveys conducted by the competent committees of the Ministry of Education, the number of students in literacy schools in all provinces reached to 3 million and 500 thousand students during 2012.
