The Dean of the Engineering Faculty in Koysanjaq University, Mohammed Hasib Zankana said in remarks to the Anatolian agency, followed by Shafaq News, that Iraq has enormous reserves of oil and natural gas, which comes in the eleventh rank globally for reserves of natural gas and the bulk of it is in Kurdistan region.

Zankan who holds a doctorate in the field of natural gas added that the statistics available from the Ministry of Natural Resources in the regional government indicate that the region has reserves of natural gas estimated at 200 trillion cubic feet, pointing out the possibility that Turkey be an excellent market for this gas.

He added that Turkey's needs for natural gas will rise up to 2020 trillion and 900 billion cubic feet, noting that the region has 200 trillion cubic feet and can provide the full needs of Turkey for 100 years.

He explained that the current complexities in the relationship between Russia and Turkey will make it last more serious to find an alternative to Russia for the supply of natural gas of the region, stressing that these reserves and proximity to Turkey, can rely on it to provide this product.
