This came in a statement issued by Minister of Oil , Adel Abdul-Mahdi, reported for "Shafaq News", that “ he praised the Iraqi armed forces and the popular crowd for the "qualitative" victory that has been made to break the siege imposed on Baiji refinery and entry to the refinery.

The statement said the facility represents a vital strategic artery in the field of fuel and electrical energy production in Iraq, thanking the international support that contributed to the victory.

He stressed that the engineering and technical staff in the ministry will begin after the completion of the security measures, the rehabilitation and operation of the refinery to provide the Iraqi oil industry, particularly the refining sector and liquidation with quantities of oil and oil derivatives, because the refinery represents utmost importance in this area.

The Iraqi security forces backed by Volunteers popular crowd had announced liberalization of Baiji city and progress towards the refinery and breaking the siege, after more than six months from the fall of large parts of Salahuddin province by ISIS terrorists during June events that led to the control of the terrorists on large parts of the provinces of Nineveh, Kirkuk and Diyala after the sudden collapse of the security forces charged with protecting them.
