The document published by Reuters, briefed by “Shafaq News” said that “the company wants to buy 2.43 million tones of 95 - octane gasoline and 1.53 million tons of gas oil to deliver it in Khor Al-Zubair port in the period from January to December.

The deadline for submission of offers will be in October 22 as that price must be valid for 20 days.

Iraq lacks a crude refining capacity and suffers from constant electricity outages in which gas oil is used in generating it.

According to government figures, the production capacity of refineries in Iraq stands currently at 600 thousand barrels per day.

Iraq plans that raise production to 1.5 million barrels within the next four years after investing four new refineries in Nasiriyah , Karbala , Amara and Kirkuk , with a total capacity of 750 thousand barrels per day .
