Iraq’s national Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 108.34 points in 2025, reflecting notable disparities in inflation rates across provinces, Iraq’s Commission of Statistics and GIS said on Friday.
The data showed that the annual inflation rate averaged 8.34% above the baseline, with significant variation in living costs across the country. Al-Anbar province recorded the highest level at 112.5 points, topping the list of the most expensive areas.
Al-Najaf and Nineveh ranked among the provinces with elevated price levels after Al-Anbar, while the capital, Baghdad, recorded the lowest inflation rate nationwide at 101.7 points, indicating relative stability. The indicators also revealed that most central and southern provinces, including Babil, Dhi Qar, Al-Qadisiyah, and Al-Muthanna, posted inflation levels exceeding 105 points.
In the Kurdistan Region figures showed more moderate and varied inflation levels compared to the higher rates recorded in western and southern Iraq.
