Shafaq News / Global Finance magazine, specialized in classifying the countries of the world, revealed that Iraq ranked 83rd in the richest countries in the world for the year 2020, while the State of Qatar ranked first.

According to the statistic published in the magazine today, and views by Shafaq News Agency, "Iraq ranked 83rd in the richest countries in the world out of 192 countries listed, as GDP per capita is 18,025$."

It added that Qatar ranked first (132,886 dollars), then Macau, Luxembourg , Singapore, Ireland, while Burundi came to the bottom of the list."

The magazine pointed out that “the richest countries are the smallest countries in terms of area and population,” indicating that “some very small and very rich countries - such as Luxembourg, Singapore, Switzerland, and Ireland - benefit from the presence of advanced financial sectors and tax systems that help attract foreign investment. 

Meanwhile, other countries such as Qatar, Brunei, and Kuwait have large reserves of natural resources. "
