Iraq’s Basrah crude grades climbed on Tuesday despite a drop in global oil prices.

Basrah Heavy rose by 98 cents, or 1.51%, to settle at $65.68 per barrel, while Basrah Medium increased by $1.68, or 2.55%, reaching $67.53 per barrel.

Global oil benchmarks extended losses for a third consecutive session, as pressure from OPEC’s plans to boost production outweighed optimism over a potential trade agreement between the United States and China.

As of 03:59 GMT, Brent crude futures traded 3 cents lower at $65.59 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures slipped 5 cents to $61.26.
